1.1 U.S. EXPORT DOCUMENTS

U.S. export documentation requirements have for the most part been eliminated. U.S. shipper's export declarations are not required on most shipments.

If it is anticipated that the product being shipped to Canada is going to be returned to the USA, the shipment should be registered with U.S. Customs by using Form 4455. U.S. Customs must process this document prior to the product(s) being exported from the USA.

Examples of products, which might be exported on a temporary basis are, salesman's samples, equipment and products for repair, for display at a convention or exhibition, for further manufacture, etc.

1.2 CANADA CUSTOMS IMPORT DOCUMENTATION (CCI)

CCI’s are required on all shipments valued at Canadian $1600.00 (approx. U.S$1100.00) and over.

Commercial Invoices are acceptable at values less than Canadian funds $1600.00.

Canada Customs Invoices should be prepared by the Exporter or Vendor. Importers and / or the Canadian Customs Broker are able to prepare the cci based on the availability of a commercial invoice.
